Birds of a Feather

Good Morning Crafty Friends, Followers and Visitors

Hubby and I had a lovely evening catching up with my cousin Paul and his wife Gill last night.

A very busy day packing for my journey to Sudbury tomorrow until Tuesday.

Today I am sharing a canvas I created last weekend.

This is an 8 x 8 square canvas which I have first painted black with Pebeo Gesso added texture to the base using scrunched tissue paper, Spiders web, lace, feathers and burlap and sprinkled micro beads onto some of the surface and the bird in the cage. I then gave it another coat of paint, I then added the embellishments and again painted everything black.

Once dry I dry brushed cream acrylic paint over the base of the canvas which highlights all the texture.

I then used gold and copper iridescent acrylic paint which highlights all the embellishments.

Stitch in Time!

Good Morning Crafty Friends, Followers and Visitors

Today I am sharing a canvas I created at the weekend.

Something very different from my other canvas' but I love haberdashery and wanted the mannequin to really stand proud against the background.

I painted white Gesso on the base of the canvas then using modelling paste stencilled spots, ledger and words over the base, I then gave it a coat of brown acrylic paint mixed with white Pebeo Gesso.

Once Gesso was dry I then arranged an assortment of embellishments, safety pins, cameo, flowers, clock, wooden sewing machine, the letters with clock hand as exclamation mark then gave another coat of Gesso.

Once this was dry I then dry brushed gold and blue iridescent paint to highlight the embellishments.

I painted the mannequin with gold and brown paint the made the bodice and attached the lace skirt. Around the waist I added the zip flower and pearls, to finish off I added a string of pearls around the neck.  I added the butterfly at the top of the mannequin.
